It seems the seasons are ever shifting outside normal limits, at least that is what it feels like to me. I look back upon the weather bookmarks in my mind, searching and seeking for a definition of normal, only to discern that what I am experiencing now is, well, not normal. As this month comes to a steamy close I stare backwards into the past weeks. With daily temperatures already well in excess of 100°F the sky continues to be extremely hot and equally stable, making any cross country flying challenging, to say the least. With that said, due to the challenging conditions, it has been one of the funnest months of cross country flying I can remember. From the mountains of Logan, to the plateau mountains near Strawberry and pretty much every site between.

I love flying with new people, mentoring, and seeing new pilots step into the bigger world of the mountains. What better playground than the mountains of Utah. This last month we have taken Clay, a new P2, eager and ambitious to several of our beautiful, mellow mountain sites and as a capstone to one of the highest launches along the Wasatch. I stood back and watched him take his first nervous steps into some serious altitude. It was so fun to see the smiles, success, and his energy.

As with any aspect of life or time, it never stands still. It is always moving forward and hopefully we get to place new bookmarks of positive memories of activities and great friends along the way. Bookmarks we can look back on and smile. June holds some great memories and ones I am sure to smile at as I occasionally glance back through the rear view mirror.
